Part of the Orbital Marketing Services Group, BP Travel employs over 400 people, operating from three purpose built office and warehouse complexes in Kent and Northamptonshire, UK. The Orbital Group of companies provides specialist marketing communication services for specific market sectors such as travel, education, healthcare, publishing, pharmaceutical, tourism and leisure as well as providing services which can be applied to any industry sector.

The Challenge
Orbital Marketing required a high capacity service to deliver digital content to their clients. The service must be capable of transferring data and voice at rates of upto 34Mbit with maximum uptime and 24 x 7 monitoring with a failover solution. The service also needed to cost no more than they were currenlty paying for a 2Mbit Leased Line.

The Solution
Orbital deployed a dual point-to-point wireless leased line solution using WiMax class, carrier grade equipment to fullfill this requirement. The solution includes separate wireless links to diverse Orbital Points of Presence on the Wireless Core Network.

The Results

The main benefit of the wireless solution has been excellent uptime combined with first class support and of course the additional speed that was desperately needed.

"We are extremely pleased with the Service we have recieved from Orbital, a professional, high quality company.”
Dave Turnball IT Manager, BP Travel Marketing Services.

The Challenge
It is vital for the City Council to have a reliable, accessible wide area network at all times to provide connectivity to the outlying council Buildings around the City. These buildings include Theatre’s, Museums, Car Parks and Day Centers. The councils wish list included proven security, speed and reliability backed up by 24-hour support with full fail over.

The Solution
Orbital deployed a large-scale wireless network using Proven Technology already used on Orbital’s Kent Wimax Class Network. The network expands across the whole City and delivers speeds upto 45 Mbit to end user buildings. Monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year the network provides and excellent Multi Site Lan Extension Services with lower install and running costs than traditional means including fibre connectivity.

The Results
The main benefit of the wireless infrastructure has been excellent uptime combined with first class support, easy expansion and low running costs. Extra sites have been added to the wide area network within a few days of the requirement being realized. The ability to add extra Virtual LAN’s for separate applications has been invaluable.

“ The council has seen major benefit’s from the Orbital Solution, we are very happy with the past years service, the higher bandwidth that has been made available to remote sites has enabled us to provide services never before possible and with the seamless integration of WAN expansion it has been a pleasure to deploy. With the online traffic graphs and monitoring solution Orbital have provided with this network, we are able to monitor remote site’s and uptime performance at a glance.”
