Research & Development

Previous Connectivity Setup And Issues

Before working with Orbital Net, the Salvatori group faced a number of connectivity challenges. Their network was outdated and couldn’t keep up with the demands of their growing business. The phone system was unreliable, which caused communication problems between teams, and their internet speeds were slower than needed for smooth operations especially in there warehouse locations where connectivity is vital.

There were also parts of their site with poor wireless coverage, which led to disruptions throughout the day.
As the company expanded, these issues became more pronounced, and it was clear their existing setup wasn’t going to support their growth. They needed a more reliable, flexible solution to keep things running smoothly and scale with their needs. That’s where Orbital Net stepped in, helping them improve both their day-to-day connectivity and set them up for the future.

Why Were They Looking To Change Providers

The Salvatori group were looking to change providers due to the limitations of their existing infrastructure. Their previous solution lacked the scalability and reliability required to support their expanding operations. Network performance was inconsistent, with frequent downtime and slow speeds that impacted business-critical applications.

The outdated system also struggled to handle the increased data traffic as the company grew, leading to bottlenecks and poor user experience across their site. Additionally, their previous provider couldn’t offer the advanced solutions needed for modern communication, such as integrated VoIP and cloud-based systems like 3CX.

Salvatori needed a provider who could offer robust, high-performance connectivity, improved network coverage, and more flexible solutions that would align with their evolving technical requirements. Orbital Net was the right fit to address these challenges and provide a future-proof infrastructure.

The Solution

Finding The Ideal Route

Fibre was the connectivity of choice for the Sittingbourne site development. However, as there was no existing infrastructure to deliver this service we had to offer a temporary solution that would be resilient enough for the needs of the new site. We provided a 18km licenced wireless link directly from the Dunkirk mast. This offered enough bandwidth for their internet and VoIP.

Following completion of required infrastructure we would provide a 100Mb Fibre Leased Line and retain the licenced wireless link as a backup solution. For their existing Aylesham site they required wireless connectivity throughout their 6 warehouses. We upgraded their primary connection to a 1Gb Fibre Leased Line and installed wireless AP’s at certain points throughout the warehouses, including working around an existing racking system to provide site wide Wifi Coverage. They are currently rolling out VoIP across this entire site since the Fibre upgrade and Orbital are integrating the site in to a unified VoIP solution across the business.

Across their sites Salvatori now have a fully hosted VoIP telephony system, 1Gb Fibre Leased Line with wireless back up and a 100Mb Fibre leased line with a wireless licensed link back up. Each site has a minimum of 20 office staff.

Orbital have now worked with Salvatori for approximately 10 years. We are their sole provider for all their telecoms needs.
